The Hairy Barista is an independent Speciality coffee shop in Totnes, South Devon. We make all of our coffees using only the highest grade beans, all with the utmost intention & attention to detail. Our popular house blend is a chocolatey nutty Brazilian Guatemalan blend. Every month we choose a different speciality roastery that provides us with 3-6 different coffees, giving our customers the opportunity to taste a different guest espresso every week.
All of our food is plant-based. Environmental sustainability is high on our agenda. We strive to use mostly organic, seasonal, local, fresh & unprocessed ingredients. For your wellbeing & vitality, we offer freshly made hot & cold soups, delicious plant based toasties, frittatas, natural vibrant desserts, nourishing smoothies, medicinal teas, superfood lattes & local Kombuchas.
In collaboration with ADAMA Events, we host live acoustic gigs, alternative music, devotional singing, voice activation workshops, ecstatic dance, sound baths, live medicine music, sacred world music, soulful music, conscious DJs, intimate rituals & ceremonies, independent film screenings, spiritual development workshops & cacao ceremonies, providing a stage for creative expression, connection, prayer & inner peace.

We offer a variety of funky speciality coffees & source most of our beans from the highly acclaimed Mission Coffee Works & other interesting & well known speciality roasters from all over the UK to drink in the coffee shop or buy to take home.

Naturally sweet desserts
Our wide selection of artisan cakes & raw mousse desserts are all plant based, organic & refined sugar free, many of them powered up with super-foods. Come enjoy with us a guilt free dessert full of nourishment and goodness.

Whether you want to join one of our epic live music events featuring local artists & musicians from all over the world, a cacao ceremony, a personal, spiritual or relational development workshop, an ecstatic dance or a soundbath, or one of our other events, we are offering an inclusive, sacred space for holistic healing, personal & relational transformation.
The HB Retail Shop
In the entrance to our shop we sell carefully selected, high-quality speciality coffees that you can drink inside the HB, including our weekly guest espressos; our house blend, house decaf blend & a gorgeous selection of cafetieres.
Our customers can also purchase here a range of our superfood blends, such as Anima Mundi’s rose petal blend, ceremonial grade matcha, matcha making kits, ceremonial cacao, turmeric & ashwaganda blend, original or vegan prana chai, single origin authentic hot chocolate tablets, Anandamide blend, Mushroom & Peruvian hot chocolate blend, loose medicinal tea blends, coffee books & the most recent UK South West Coffee Guide.
Kid’s play area
At the HB we welcome our little ones and see them as an integral part of our community. We have created a cushioned & colourful kid’s area full of books, pencils & toys, for play & connection. Children not to be left unattended here & shoes to be removed please.
Outdoor area
We are bringing warm Mediterranean vibes to Devon, offering a peaceful white washed outdoor sanctuary to disconnect from the exterior world with plenty of comfy seating & a serene zen area at the far end of the outdoor space.
Shop for local artists
We love local artisans and provide a dedicated space for local conscious artists to sell their creative and medicinal products, such as feather & beaded earrings, organic clothing & massage oils. The Hairy Barista takes no profit from this.
